Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE),
525 Jefferson Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43604
Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE) is a nonprofit law firm that has served low-income individuals in Northwest and West Central Ohio for over 50 years. With our partner law firm, Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO), we are the only providers of comprehensive legal representation in non-criminal matters for more than 425,000 people in our service region. We advocate for just and equitable policy changes and fight for the right to fairness and justice in the legal system.
Job Summary:
ABLE is hiring a Supervising Attorney to lead a high-impact team providing legal advocacy and outreach for agricultural workers across the state (our Agricultural Workers Project (AWP) is part of our Agricultural Worker and Immigrant Rights Practice Group). This role blends litigation, supervision, team leadership, community lawyering, and systemic advocacy and offers remote flexibility for our AWP attorneys based in northwest, northeast, or central Ohio. Despite the extreme importance of agricultural work, the workers who grow, harvest, and process the food we eat are some of the most vulnerable to exploitation, civil rights abuses, and unfair labor practices. As the primary legal services provider for agricultural workers in Ohio, ABLE’s team has challenges injustices facing agricultural workers, often stemming from racialized and xenophobic history of our worker protection laws. Our staff advocate for safe housing and working conditions, fair wages, and civil rights for agricultural workers across the state of Ohio. We are a dynamic team of passionate advocates looking for an attorney with strong project management and supervision skills to lead our AWP team in a combination of litigation, policy advocacy, and community organizing work.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience, including litigation and immigration
- Licensed in Ohio or eligible for admission
