Catholic Charities – Diocese of Toledo is seeking a full-time Staff Guardian for the Adult Advocacy Services Program in the Mansfield office.
Primary responsibilities include:
- · The Staff Guardian is appointed by the local Probate Court to act as an advocate for a court-appointed ward.
- · Adhere to the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Superintendence Rule 66, as administered by the Court.
- · Addresses issues and arranges for appropriate intervention.
- · Advocates, ensures protection, and provides appropriate support to meet the needs of the ward.
- · Makes in-person contact with the ward regularly to ensure proper care and treatment.
- · Timely responses to emails, inquiries, telephone calls, and visitors.
- · Acts as the administrator of the ward’s estate, under proper authority of the Court, with sound financial management, to ensure timely payments and protection of assets.
- · Recruits, interviews, and trains Volunteer Guardians.
- · Consistently evaluates and maintains ongoing knowledge of community services available to assist clients.
- · Prepares reports and completes special projects as requested.
Candidates for the position must possess:
- · High school diploma required or general equivalency degree (GED), with 3 years of experience in a social services environment, preferred.
- · Able to be bonded where mandated by the Probate Court
- · Experience working with elderly and impaired populations is desired.
- · Experience in advocating for the elderly and impaired populations.
- · Must maintain a current driver’s license, with the ability to travel within the Diocese of Toledo
- · Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required
- · Ability to work flexible hours; evening and weekend hours may be necessary
- · Successful BCI/FBI background check, before employment, and every five (5) years
