Job Description
Great opportunity to join an established nonprofit at the upper management level, which is recognized for its strong community collaboration and presence. The Operations Director is responsible for leading all operations for the Catholic Club. This includes fiscal accountability, staff development, fundraising, and community engagement in alignment with the Catholic Club’s mission and strategic goals. The Catholic Club includes three interconnected buildings, two outdoor playgrounds, and employs 30+ staff with an annual operating budget of $1.6 million.
Required Certifications/Education
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred in human services, business, nonprofit leadership, or related field
Requirements
· Proven experience managing an operating budget exceeding $1 million
· Minimum 3 to 5 years of leadership experience
· Demonstrated ability to lead staff, build a strong team culture, and deliver on strategic goals
· Successful experience in financial development, including launching major fundraising campaigns and special events
· Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships with local organizations, civic groups, and key stakeholders
· Strong decision-making skills and exercising sound judgment under pressure
Preferred Skills
· Experience in grant writing and grant execution
· Comfortability and/or experience in website management
- Proven ability to develop and manage an engaged advisory board
Essential Functions
Leadership Development
Engage in leadership development activities including participating in strategic planning, cultivating major donors, engaging with high-level stakeholders, and representing the organization in regional and national forums.
Financial Leadership
· With the Board of Directors, plan and execute an annual special event, historically netting $79,000+
· Prepare and manage the annual budget and forecast in collaboration with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, and ED.
· Monitor financial performance and make timely adjustments to ensure a balanced operation
Operations and Program Growth
· Provide direct oversight of day-to-day operations, including program safety, client service, child, youth, family, aquatics, and community outreach programs.
· Ensure programs are mission-aligned, inclusive, and meet community needs
· Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming facility that encourages engagement and growth.
· With Maintenance Director, maintain proper upkeep and functioning of major systems (pool, boilers, and elevator).
Volunteer and Board Leadership
· With ED, Lead board recruitment, orientation, and engagement strategies
· Serve as the staff liaison to the Finance Committee, and actively participate with Board of Directors functions.
Community Engagement
· Promote the Catholic Club’s mission, programs, and impact through strategic communication and outreach.
· Represent the Catholic Club within the community by building meaningful partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies.
· Alongside with the current ED, serve as a spokesperson for the Catholic Club
Professional Development and Culture
- Support staff development through coaching, evaluation, and leadership training
- Model and uphold Catholic Club mission and values.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and accountability
Leadership Competencies
· Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning processes and translate vision into measurable results.
· Proven track record in cultivating and securing major gifts from individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
· Strong public speaking, media relationships, and community advocacy skills.
· Experience in mission-centered storytelling and brand positioning.
· Experience with fiscal management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships focusing on staff and volunteer development.
· Experience community collaboration and engagement, preferably within the greater Toledo region.
- Experience or capacity to understand nonprofit governance best practices.
