About the Organization: Justice for Sierah’s vision is for young people to grow, learn, and thrive in safe, supportive communities. Its mission is to protect communities by implementing the Ohio violent offender database, known as Sierah’s Law, in all 50 states. Justice for Sierah’s work also includes empowering our youth by establishing self-awareness and self-defense in school curricula and communities through the Sierah Strong Program.
Position Summary: The Executive Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the achievement of the organization's mission and goals. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders to drive organizational growth and impact. This is a full-time remote position that will require occasional nights and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization's strategic plan.
- Provide visionary leadership to ensure the organization's mission and goals are achieved.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for growth and expansion of programs and services.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations, including program management, finance, human resources, and administration.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective organizational performance.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
- Manage the organization's budget and financial resources.
- Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from diverse sources, including grants, individual donors, and corporate sponsors.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors and stakeholders.
- Seek out and apply for relevant grants and funding opportunities.
- Explore innovative approaches to resource mobilization and revenue generation.
- Community Engagement and Advocacy:
- Represent the organization to external stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and the media.
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners and collaborate on joint initiatives.
- Advocate for the organization's mission and priorities through public speaking engagements, media appearances, and participation in relevant events.
- Stay informed about trends, developments, and best practices in the non-profit sector and relevant policy areas.
- Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or social sciences is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Proven experience in nonprofit management, including leadership roles and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, including fundraising, program management, and governance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and online collaboration tools.
