St Martin de Porres Parish is seeking a part-time (20 hours a week) Director of Social Ministry. A Community Health Worker would be preferred. Main responsibilities include working collaboratively with the Pastoral Team, with the Food Pantry team , and with The Claver House team to continue and expand the social ministry of the parish . The successful candidate will work with various social agencies in the City and Diocese. An active Roman Catholic is preferred. EOE Send letter and resume via email to virginiawelshosf@gmail.com. 419 241 4544 The Parish Social Ministry Coordinator/Director, rooted in the servant ministry of Jesus Christ, will exercise leadership by collaboratively setting the vision for the various Outreach Ministries at St. Martin de Porres Parish. The Director is responsible for oversight, coordination and implementation of the various social programs of the Parish. The Director also initiates new activities or directions which minister to the needy and underserved in our region. The Director meets regularly with the Persons in Charge of the various outreach ministries and the Pastoral Leader to implement the Parish Mission of spreading the Gospel of Christ, the mandate of Matthew 25 and the Social Teachings of the Church. Duties:- Work collaboratively as a member of the Pastoral Team
- Work collaboratively with the Persons in Charge of the various ministries of the parish: Food Pantry, The Claver House, emergency assistance, St. Vincent de Paul, The Community Outreach Center.
- Represent St. Martin de Porres Social Ministry in the broader community, ie. The Diocese of Toledo, Catholic Charities, the City of Toledo, the Englewood Community, St. Vincent de Paul Hospital and Toledo Hospital, and other such organizations as deemed appropriate.
- Maintains the training, processes, and procedures required by the various vendors: Seagate Foodbank, Northwest Ohio Foodbank and other such entities.
- Assist in recruiting and supporting volunteers in the various outreach programs as requested and needed.
- Assist in assuring the financial stability of the ministry by writing grants or seeking funding.
- Keep abreast of parish and diocesan initiatives for Outreach activities; build relationships, collaborate with non-parish based agencies, religious communities and local community organizations.
- Coordinate Parish response to National or International Disasters (usually through the Diocese of Toledo, Catholic Charities or CRS.)
- Promote education, nurture and support volunteers in the parish outreach ministries.
- Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the various programs by collecting and analyzing data on the number of people assisted (individuals and families) financial statistics and participation by parish and community volunteers.
- Educate the parish and community groups on the social mission of the Church and justice issues.
- Coordinate social ministry efforts with other parish organizations- Pastoral Council, Evangelization, and other committees for total parish integration.
- Participates in opportunities for personal and professional development
- Assure that recognition of gifts, financial support, and volunteers is done in a timely manner.
- Prepare, administer and monitor the Social Ministry Budget.
- All other duties as assigned by the Pastoral Leader.
