Position Summary
The Development Director is a strategic and relational leader responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all fundraising initiatives that support and expand the mission of Mom’s House. This role drives annual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, stewardship, and special events.
The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Communications & Operations Coordinator to increase donor engagement, strengthen philanthropic partnerships, and build a culture of generosity that fuels our two-generation model of breaking cycles of poverty.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan with clear goals, timelines, and revenue projections.
- Manage a diverse fundraising portfolio including annual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events.
- Work with the Executive Director to steward and solicit major donors.
- Build and manage a donor pipeline with intentional cultivation strategies.
- Provide development dashboards, reports, and KPI updates for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Identify, cultivate, and steward new and existing donors.
- Conduct regular donor visits, calls, and engagement opportunities.
- Lead stewardship processes including timely thank-you communication, donor recognition, and impact reports.
- Strengthen donor retention through personalized and mission-centered engagement.
Grant Management & Corporate Partnerships
- Lead the organization’s grant strategy, including prospect research, proposal preparation, and reporting.
- Manage relationships with foundations and corporate partners to ensure renewal, compliance, and ongoing engagement.
- Develop sponsorship opportunities for programs and events.
Events & Community Engagement
- Provide leadership and strategy for all fundraising events, including planning, sponsorship development, donor engagement, and post-event stewardship.
- Represent Mom’s House at community events, presentations, and donor gatherings.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with the Communications & Operations Coordinator to ensure consistent storytelling, branding, and donor messaging.
- Partner with the Executive Director to cultivate high-impact major donor relationships and legacy giving opportunities.
- Support board engagement, training, and development activities.
- Collaborate with program team to gather stories, data, and outcomes that deepen donor understanding of impact.
Development Operations
- Oversee donor database accuracy, financial tracking, and acknowledgment processes (in partnership with Admin/Finance staff).
- Maintain clean donor records and reporting for forecasting and analysis.
- Improve development systems, workflows, and stewardship cycles.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Prefer Associates or Bachelor’s degree in fields such as business administration, nonprofit management, or related areas.
- Demonstrated success with major gifts, annual campaigns, or grants.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship-builder with comfort around donors, partners, and community leaders.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with donor CRM systems preferred
