Community Engagement Specialist

Summary:
Luther Home of Mercy, a ministry Enriching Lives and Individual Abilities, serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. They are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Community Engagement Specialist to support community outreach, event planning and volunteer management. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for engaging with diverse stakeholders. The Specialist works as part of the Mission Advancement team and is responsible for planning and executing events, supporting fundraising efforts, managing volunteers, and assisting with marketing materials.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Plan, organize, and attend monthly central events, including Fall Fest, within established timeframes.

·         Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organization at community events.

·         Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.

·         Support Cub Scout Pack leadership and events as needed.

·         Assist with fundraising efforts, including tracking registrations.

·         Support grant writing or other fundraising initiatives.

·         Design basic print and digital materials as needed.

·         Maintain detailed records and demonstrate strong business etiquette.

·         Provide switchboard assistance as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·         Associate’s Degree in marketing/communication, human services or related field, or equivalent experience.

·         Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills, with proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

·         General business, design, and creative writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. 

·         Canva or InDesign experience, or willingness to learn, preferred.

·         Ability to effectively communicate and engage with leadership, families, volunteers, donors, and the general community.

·         Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals.

·         Comfort in giving oral presentations.

·         Photography and video skills preferred but not required.

·         Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

·         Reliable transportation to attend off-campus meetings and events.
