Job Overview

In alignment with the mission of our parent foundation (Engaging Opportunities Foundation), the Assistant Job  Coach should possess a desire to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs while providing  quality job coaching with respect and patience.

To be successful in this role, the Assistant Job Coach does not have explicit experience working with individuals with special needs. However, an Assistant Job Coach should have the desire for working with individuals with special needs in some capacity in their future career/life. Individuals with special needs that are employed by Christy’s Corner  Café for the purpose of job coaching will henceforth be referred to as “clients”.

The Assistant Job Coach will recognize the diverse learning needs of our clients and provide structured coaching to meet the individual’s needs. It may be necessary to use non-traditional methods for this  teaching/coaching to include (but not limited to): extra time, repeating demonstrations, role play, written  directions, picture directions, and other modalities as appropriate to the client.

The Assistant Job Coach will possess the understanding that teaching/coaching the individual with special needs requires additional patience, attention to details, and additional amounts of time. Teaching/coaching clients may require  more quality checks and redirection. Some individuals may not be able to do some tasks in the coffee  shop due to mental, physical, emotional, or behavioral disabilities.

The Assistant Job Coach should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and evening  hours and will report to the Christy’s Café Manager and/or Lead Job Coach. He/she shall encourage customer engagement with our clients while also serving quality products in a safe and inclusive  environment.

The Assistant Job Coach will receive quarterly reviews from the manager with in-put from the Lead Job coach, this will go into the employee file.

Job Responsibilities

The Assistant Job Coach should be prepared to work with Job Coaches to teach our clients daily job tasks, to motivate them to reach their  goals, and to provide goal-oriented activities when appropriate. Assistant Job Coaches need to be patient and  understand that the teaching/coaching process for our clients may require repeated demonstrations, additional  time to learn, and/or alternative teaching methods.

The Assistant Job Coach will be expected to be motivated to learn about the needs of the clients, their diagnoses, and methods related to job coaching through observation of other Job Coaches, asking questions, and reviewing client folders/materials. The Assistant Job Coach will be expected to learn and be able to train others on all work-related tasks that may  be assigned to our clients. The Assistant Job Coach will be expected to work side by side with other job coaches,  clients, and volunteers to perform
