In this workshop you will learn from various legal and nonprofit experts and will have a unique opportunity to ask area attorneys your legal nonprofit-related questions. The following will be addressed:

Board Member Service and Leadership: A Shared Responsibility

W. David Arnold, Esq., Of Counsel, Robison, Curphey & O’Connell

Mr. Arnold will discuss and provide nonprofit staff and prospective board members with the tools to make informed decisions about board service. He will guide participants through role clarity, ethical considerations, and Ohio’s statutory obligations, while also offering practical strategies for effective leadership and formal processes to ensure thoughtful and lawful oversight.

Strong Nonprofits: Understanding from the Ohio Attorney General

Beth Short, Charitable Law Section at Attorney General’s Office

Beth will lead an interactive session on the responsibilities and accountabilities of Board governance.  She will discuss enforcement cases and other issues that challenge board across the state as well as other resources available in Ohio to nonprofits.

Conflict Resolution for Nonprofits

Candice Kline, Assistant Professor of Law, University of Toledo, College of Law

Candice Kline will offer a compelling exploration of conflict resolution tailored to nonprofit organizations. She brings firsthand insight into navigating complex, high stakes challenges that nonprofit leaders often face and offer practical strategies for resolving disputes with integrity and effectiveness.
