TOLEDO, OHIO, June 4, 2020 – The Board of Trustees of Greater Toledo Community Foundation recently approved three grants totaling $23,515 from the COVID-19 Response Fund to support northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofit organizations, bringing the total distributed in nine weeks to $379,163.

The following three grants totaling $23,515  were recently approved through the fund.

A Renewed Mind: to deliver bags containing food, personal protective equipment and hygiene products to clients affected by substance abuse or a mental health diagnosis.

Cherry Street Mission Ministries: to support costs related to increased staff hours and expenses for cleaning supplies at the homeless shelter.

Monroe Street Neighborhood Center: to support the distribution of re-usable cloth masks to participants of the organization’s programming.

Greater Toledo Community Foundation created the COVID-19 Response Fund to support northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofit organizations as they assist in responding to the spread of COVID-19 in the community and experience financial challenges in doing so.

A second COVID-related fund – the Community Resilience Fund – to address long-term recovery efforts of individuals and organizations as a result of the COVID outbreak – was introduced on May 27, 2020.  Nonprofit organizations implementing long-term recovery initiatives related to the coronavirus outbreak can submit a proposal through the Foundation’s online application process.  Grant Guidelines and additional details of this new funding opportunity are provided at https://www.toledocf.org/grants-2/

Donations from the community can be made to both funds online at https://toledocf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/list

GTCF will continue to make grants from the COVID-19 Response Fund and the Community Resilience Fund as long as donations are received. GTCF will provide grants to northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan nonprofits and will not be giving money directly to individuals. GTCF is distributing 100 percent of funds raised.
